A Mobility Scooter used for Smuggling Cocaine?

An elderly person that uses a mobility vehicle would be one of the last people you would think that would be involved in smuggling cocaine operation, right? Well here is one exception. A 77 yr old women was found guilty of smuggling drugs in her vehicle working with her daughter. I guess that was their mother daughter hobby.

Grandmother arrested for mobility scooter drug bust

A granny was jailed for 13 years today after being found guilty of smuggling £1 million worth of cocaine into the country in her mobility vehicle.

Judge Adele Williams said Ambrozine Heron, 77, was a “willing participant” in the crime, which also involved her daughter, Pauline Chambers, 49, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Canterbury Crown Court heard how the pair, from Birmingham, were stopped by customs officers as they arrived at the port of Dover after travelling over from France in March.

A search of Heron’s specially-adapted Nissan Pathfinder led to 16kg of uncut cocaine being found in carrier bags on the back seat, hidden inside tins of palm oil.

Sentencing the pair, Judge Williams said Heron, who the court heard suffers from a range of illnesses including diabetes, asthma and hypertension, became involved in the crime to alleviate suspicion.

“I have no doubt that your role in the car was to add some respectability to the journey in respect of your age and your ill-health.”

But she added: “The vehicle in which you were travelling was the mobility vehicle which you, Ambrozine Heron, were entitled to.

“You Heron, in all the evidence before me, were a willing participant in this importation.”

Looking Forward

Oh wow, its hard to believe almost our first semester in college is coming to end (and it cant come any sooner=/). Its been a great experience experimenting with this idea of blogging along with twitter which I had no prior experience. I hope to conitune blogging, but the probability of that happening is fairly slim. My audience has been the class of English 1000c mainly which after this semester they most likely wont be visiting blogger.com to check that often. BUT I hope my blog has put a dent and brighten one's scope on drugs. Happy blogging..and oh happy holidays=]
